A story needs main characters. In the first version of Storytale, the title page only showed names — a list of who had written together. Functional, but empty.
That's why Storytale got a portrait system this week. When creating a game or joining via a PIN link, you can now click the 🎭 icon below the name field. A gallery opens with portraits all in the same children's book style.
Nothing chosen? No problem — when the game starts, the server automatically picks a random portrait from the gallery. No two players in the same game get the same face.

Your own portrait
Create an account (email and password only, no verification needed) and you get a text field to describe what you want to see. "A three-legged robot with stars in its eyes" — anything you can put into words, we can draw. Up to 5 portraits per day per account.
Choose "private" and no one else sees your portrait in the gallery. Otherwise you share it with the community.
